Questions

Do I need to cook the oats?

No. The oats soften in the milk and yogurt as they chill.

Can I use quick oats or steel-cut oats?

Use old-fashioned rolled oats. Quick oats turn mushy and steel-cut oats stay too firm.

What else can I use cardamom maple syrup on?

Pancakes, waffles, lattes, roasted squash and anything you'd normally pour maple syrup on.
